Our commitment
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across Mower Mentor. We treat accessibility problems as bugs and fix them as part of our normal work.
What we do
- Body text is set at 18px, and pages can be zoomed to 200% without losing content or function.
- Pages use headings, landmarks and lists so you can move around them with a screen reader.
- A “Skip to content” link lets keyboard users jump past the menu.
- Links, buttons and form fields work with a keyboard and show a visible focus outline.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Form fields have labels, and errors are explained in text.
- Animations are reduced if your device asks for reduced motion.
How we test
We check new and updated pages with:
- automated checks using axe DevTools and Lighthouse;
- keyboard-only navigation;
- screen reader checks with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS and NVDA on Windows;
- color contrast checks;
- zoom to 200% and narrow phone-sized screens.
Known limitations
These are the problems we know about. We list each one here until it’s fixed.
| Issue | What’s affected | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Ads and widgets from third parties may not meet WCAG 2.2 AA. | None today; this will apply if we add ads | We report problems to the provider. |
| Product images supplied by stores, such as Amazon, may have short or missing descriptions. | Product boxes in guides | We add our own description next to each product. |
| Comments are written by readers, so we can’t guarantee their structure or wording. | Reader comments | We moderate comments but don’t rewrite them. |
Compatibility
Mower Mentor is designed to work with recent versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, and with the screen readers listed above. It may not work fully in older browsers.
