About Mower Mentor

Every mower guide is tested and dated by us.

Independent, up-to-date lawn-mower guides for US mower owners, not recycled spec sheets. We test mowers hands-on, date-stamp every guide, and write the advice the brands won't.

Who we are

An independent website for lawn mowers

Mower Mentor launched with a simple mission: help US mower owners choose the right machine and keep it running, instead of getting stuck with the wrong mower or a repair they can't make.

We're a small, dedicated team who got tired of the same old advice: out-of-date roundups, vague summaries, and articles that never put a mower to work. So we built something different.

Every guide we publish is backed by hands-on testing in the shop and on real lawns, then date-stamped with the day we tested it. How a mower starts, cuts, and handles, what breaks, what the maintenance really takes, and which parts and accessories fit. Not recycled spec sheets. Not whatever a forum thread claims.

But we don't stop at buying guides. We also write how-to guides, troubleshooting walkthroughs, and maintenance explainers so you know exactly what to do when a mower won't cooperate.

Our promise

Why trust Mower Mentor?

We're Always Tuned In

Mowers and model lineups change constantly. We track new models, redesigned engines and decks, and seasonal updates so our guides reflect what you can buy and run today, not what was on the shelf last year.

We Answer to Readers, Not Brands

No pay-to-play. Brands can't buy a better write-up or soften how we describe a mower, which means our guides aren't influenced by manufacturer relationships or ad deals.

We Test in the Shop and on Real Lawns

Every mower is put to work hands-on, not rewritten from a spec sheet. We check how it starts, how it cuts, how it handles, and what the upkeep takes so you get the full picture.

We Date-Stamp Everything

A guide with no date is useless. Every mower guide carries a "Last tested" date, and we re-check it on a cadence. Because a recommendation only matters if it reflects the machine you can buy now.

We Factor in the True Cost

A mower's sticker price isn't the whole story. We flag the cost of blades, belts, batteries, oil, and other parts and upkeep so you know what owning it will really run you.

We Call It Like We See It

No sugarcoating. If a mower is one of the worst we've tested, that's exactly what we publish. Our independence means we answer to readers, not manufacturers.

Transparency

How we make money

Our work is funded primarily by display ads on the site. We also earn a small commission when you buy through some of our links, typically up to 3% of your purchase. This costs you nothing extra.

Reader-funded

That's it. Display ads and affiliate commissions are how we keep the lights on.

We don't let brands pay to look better in our guides. We don't soften a verdict for a partnership. And we don't hand any manufacturer approval over what we publish.

Mower Mentor operates as a fully independent publication. No hidden partnerships, no backroom deals with mower brands or manufacturers. We know that our long-term success depends entirely on earning and keeping your trust. We're not willing to trade that for a quick payout.

Your confidence in what we recommend matters more than any advertising check ever could.

Our standard

Accurate mower guides take real effort

We put each mower through its paces in the shop and on real lawns, checking how it starts, how it cuts, how it handles, and what the maintenance and repairs actually involve. Then we date-stamp it and re-check it on a schedule. Every guide we publish is backed by our own hands-on testing, not guesswork.

We set out to create the kind of mower guides we always wished existed online: thorough, current, and straight to the point. We dig into the details, confirm what matters, and give you a clear answer. Is this the right mower for you, and how do you keep it running?

Help us grow

Spread the word.

If you find our content helpful, the best way to support us is by spreading the word. Share Mower Mentor with a friend, recommend us to anyone shopping for a mower or fixing the one they have, or simply use our links when you buy.

Your support helps us keep doing what we do: testing mowers hands-on, publishing in-depth how-to guides, and tracking maintenance and repair without compromising our independence.

We're building Mower Mentor to be the go-to destination for honest, up-to-date mower advice on Honda, Toro, Ego, John Deere, and every brand you run. A place where you get the truth, not the fluff.
